What You Will Do

  • Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams for healthcare claims products.
  • Define, manage, and prioritize product backlog items, ensuring alignment with business goals and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Translate complex healthcare and medical claims requirements into clear user stories with acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with engineering, QA, design, and business teams to deliver product features on time and within scope.
  • Analyze and interpret healthcare claims data to identify improvement opportunities and inform product decisions.
  • Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, reviews, and retrospectives in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Monitor product performance, troubleshoot issues, and support post-deployment validation and maintenance.
  • Ensure integration of EDI standards, including 837P/I/D and 835 transactions, into product workflows.
  • Stay up-to-date with healthcare regulations, payer requirements, and industry trends to guide roadmap planning.

Skills and Experience You Will Need

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner or in a similar role within the healthcare industry, with a focus on medical claims processing.
  • Strong understanding of EDI transactions (837, 835, 276/277, etc.).
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
  • Familiarity with healthcare payer-provider processes, claim lifecycle, and adjudication logic.
  • Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven track record of delivering successful healthcare software products.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and other relevant healthcare data privacy regulations
  • Experience in Mainframe application

Desired:

  • Proclaim Medical claims platform experience
  • Certification such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or SAFe PO/PM.
  • Background in product management for healthcare claims management systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of remaining stationary at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift to 15 lbs., as needed
  • Must be able to work on-site (corporate/client offices), as needed (not applicable for 100% remote roles)
  • Occasionally required to bend, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead.
  • Hand-eye coordination necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment. 
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, the ability to tolerate fluorescent lighting, and the ability to adjust focus.
