What You Will Do

  • Provide hands-on support for existing environments to include performance of the following related tasks: software installation, patch installation, upgrades, query writing, configuration, security, system monitoring and tuning, disaster recovery planning, and release deployments.
  • Provide 24x7 support of production Internet applications on a rotating basis.
  • Point of escalation for application support to diagnose and resolve complex customer issues in accessing the Portal and Web Services environments.
  • Drive Incident crisis technical bridges and/or management bridges, as required and leverages experience and organizational knowledge to reduce MTTR.
  • Work with Change Management/ Release Managers to review proposed change events for production.
  • Participate in all Production Support activities during incidents and outages. Hands-on technical resource capable of resolving all technical issues within lower and upper environments and making recommendations for performance and capacity improvements.
  • Document install-defects and assign severity to the problems that occurred. After fallback, perform postmortem to identify root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Participate in internal and external audits, as required by management.
  • Work closely with Engineering to ensure all relevant KPI’s are implemented within the monitoring framework.
  • Escalate issues to the technology, operations, and/or vendor(s) where appropriate.
  • Ensure database/application controls and procedures remain compliant with Corporate IT risk.
  • Support Disaster Recovery tests and live recovery for all production environments.

Skills and Experience You Will Need

Required

  • Web Servers: Nginx or Apache configurations and reverse proxies
  • Linux system administration – ability to manage and troubleshoot Linux systems and services, bash scripting
  • JBoss or WildFly Administration experience
  • Experience working with third-party vendors
  • Able to participate in On-Call rotation

Desired:

  • Containerization technologies: Docker, Kubernetes
  • Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery tools: Azure DevOps, Jenkins
  • Networking: solid understanding of routing and networking concepts
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
  • Collaboration platforms such as JIRA, Confluence, Wiki, ServiceNow

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; relevant, equivalent work experience may be substituted for degree requirement

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of remaining stationary at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift to 15 lbs., as needed
  • Must be able to work on-site (corporate/client offices), as needed (not applicable for 100% remote roles)
  • Occasionally required to bend, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead.
  • Hand-eye coordination necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment. 
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, the ability to tolerate fluorescent lighting, and the ability to adjust focus.
